European Commission to negotiate a new fisheries agreement between EU and Liberia

18/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is expected to adopt a proposal very soon requesting a mandate from the EU Council to negotiate, on behalf of the European Union, the conclusion of a Protocol to the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Liberia. The current five-year Protocol expires on 8 December and allows 28 tuna seiners (16 Spanish and 12 French) and six surface longliners (Spanish) to fish tuna in Liberian waters (see...
