04/08/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission published at the end of July the results of its public consultation on the European Strategy for Data, which closed on 31 May 2020 (see EUROPE 12429/5). It received 806 responses, of which slightly under half (338) came from businesses. Almost all respondents (97.2%) confirmed the need for a comprehensive data strategy and 91.5% agreed that “more data should be available for the common good”. In addition, 82.2% of the respondents support the establishment of a list of high-value datasets, made available free of charge, without restrictions and via application program interfaces (APIs). This consultation is intended to guide the future legislative framework on the Common European Data Space planned for 2020 and the implementing act on a list of value datasets planned for 2021.
