EDPS provides initial analysis of Schrems II judgment that invalidated Privacy Shield

In its Frequently Asked Questions published on Friday 24 July (see EUROPE B12529A2), the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) states that the judgment of the Court of Justice in Case C-311/18, the so-called Schrems II judgment, has immediate consequences for the transfer of data outside the EU. 

The document states that the judges’ decision makes data transfers between the EU and the US on the basis of the Privacy Shield illegal.
