Persistent blockage in EU Council on strategic guidelines for justice and home affairs

The Member States’ Ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper II) were once again unable to finalise the strategic guidelines in the fields of justice and home affairs on Wednesday 17 June.

The Ambassadors had failed last week on the formulation of migration policies (see EUROPE B12503A11) and the balance between the concepts of solidarity and responsibility.

They continued to oppose for the same reasons, one source said, even though the text does not go into details such as the relocation...
