In 2018, regional GDP ranged from 30% to 263% of European average, according to Eurostat

06/03/2020 (Agence Europe)Regional economic disparities within the EU are still very wide, according to figures published on Thursday 5 March by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union. In 2018, regional GDP per capita, expressed in purchasing power standards, ranged from 30% of the EU average in Mayotte (a French overseas region) to 263% in Luxembourg. Among the richest regions are the South, East and Central regions of Ireland (between 210 and 225%), followed by the Brussels Capital Region (203%). Among the poorest regions are North-West (34%), North-Central (35%) and South-Central (36%) Bulgaria. Before the departure of the United Kingdom, the disparities were even greater with London being 611% above the European average (see EUROPE 11971/23).
