In an interview with Le Point newspaper on Friday 17 January, French MEP François-Xavier Bellamy (EPP, France) said that an emergency response will require “EU fisheries funds to address the immediate impact of the crisis” arising from the UK's departure from the EU.
He added that “this interim response will need to be for the short term only: fishermen want to make a living from their work, not from subsidies”.
