20/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU has decided to provide 8 million euros in humanitarian aid for vulnerable populations in the conflict-ridden Eastern part of Ukraine, the European Commission announced on Friday 20 December. This emergency aid will provide heating and water for civilians, medical equipment and medicines, as well as the rehabilitation of damaged health care facilities and schools. “The EU is continuing to help the most vulnerable people on both sides of the contact line”, stressed EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič, quoted in a statement. The aid will be channelled through the Commission's humanitarian partner organisations in the field. With this funding, the EU's humanitarian effort in Ukraine amounts to 23 million euros in 2019.
