On Wednesday, 4 December, at the end of the first meeting of the College of European Commissioners, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her “concern” regarding the political situation in Malta, calling on the Maltese authorities to conduct the most thorough investigation possible into the murder of the journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia “without any political interference”.
