25/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to a draft decision of the Political and Security Committee dated 25 November, seen by EUROPE, Brigadier General João Pedro Rato Boga de Oliveira Ribeiro is expected to take command of the European Union Military Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) on 12 December. The Portuguese soldier will replace Austrian Brigadier General Christian Habersatter, who has been in post since June 12 (see EUROPE 12266/32). In addition to training Malian armed forces units, developing autonomous training capabilities, and providing advice on army reform, EUTM Mali will also provide advice and training support to the G5 Sahel Joint Force. The mission's mandate runs until 18 May 2020. (CG)
