Pesticides, European Parliament says no to keeping about 60 active substances on market

In a vote on Thursday 10 October in Strasbourg, the European Parliament, not surprisingly, opposed the retention on the EU market of 63 active substances of plant protection products - pesticides or herbicides - which the Commission proposed to reauthorise all in one shot.

Objections to the renewal of authorisations for substances such as flumioxazine and chlortoluron were approved by 402 votes to 222 with 39 abstentions, on the grounds of public health, environmental protection and...
