The Court of Auditors of the EU ruled on Tuesday 8 October that problems persist in high-risk areas of expenditure, such as cohesion and rural development. By publishing its annual report assessing EU budget expenditure for 2018, the auditors suggest that the next Commission take steps to simplify the rules and that Member States improve their control systems.
