02/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The spokeswoman of the European External Action Service, Maja Kocijancic, welcomed on Wednesday 2 October the results of the meeting of the trilateral Ukraine-Russia-OSCE contact group the previous day, “including the ‘Steinmeier’ formula”. According to her, this is “a step that could hopefully lead to further efforts towards full implementation of the Minsk Agreement for all parties”. The parties agreed to the Steinmeier formula, a kind of peace process plan presented in 2016 by former German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Speaking to the press, Ms Kocijancic recalled that the implementation of the Minsk agreements is “essential for achieving lasting peace in eastern Ukraine” and that the EU had continuously supported the discussions in the ‘Normandy’ format and the trilateral contact group.
