The European Parliament's Committee on Budgets approved on Tuesday 3 September proposals to release a total of almost €300 million in aid in 2019 after floods in Italy (277.2 million), Romania (8.1 million) and Austria (8.1 million) in summer and October 2018.
The Committee on Budgets accepted the proposal mobilising this aid from the EU Solidarity Fund, as well as the Draft Amending Budget (for 2019) accompanying this decision.
In addition, the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets approved the EU Council's position on several other draft amending budgets (see EUROPE 12240/10) which also concern the EU budget for 2019: - budgeting for the 2018 surplus (+€1.8 billion in payments); - reinforcement of the appropriations for the Horizon 2020 and Erasmus + programmes (+€100 million in commitments, including €80 million for the Horizon 2020 research programme); - updating of expenditure and revenue to take into account the latest developments (decrease of €100 million in commitments and reductions in payments of €55.6 million).
All draft reports on these budget amendments will be voted on in the Parliament’s Plenary session in Strasbourg in September (session from 16 to 19 September). (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
