Finnish Presidency of the EU Council to work towards 'An ambitious, open and rules-based trade policy'

The priority of the European Union's trade policy must be to defend the multilateral trading system and resist the rise of protectionism, announces the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union's programme for the second half of 2019. It must also work to strengthen the implementation of its free trade agreements, in particular the binding nature of the sustainable development chapter of these treaties.
