Nominee Ursula von der Leyen begins meetings with European Parliament political groups to forge majority

The proposed President of the European Commission, the current German Defence Minister, Ursula von der Leyen, began her meetings with the European Parliament’s political groups on Wednesday 3 July in Strasbourg in an attempt to secure a broad majority in light of her confirmation at the European Parliament, which is currently scheduled for 16 July.
