28/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – Just two days after the Commission's invitation, the UK Government published on Thursday 28 March the results of its study on the risks posed by Huawei to the security of 5G networks (see EUROPE 12222/23). The results are not good for the Chinese equipment manufacturer: according to the supervisory committee of the Huawei Cybersecurity Assessment Centre, quoted by the French news agency, “no significant progress has been made by Huawei in addressing the problems reported last year”. In addition, “other technical problems have been identified in Huawei's engineering process, leading to new risks for British telecommunications networks”, reports this body led by the British government in its fifth annual report. According to AFP, Huawei said it understood these concerns and recalled that a high-level plan for the transformation programme, with a budget of about $2 billion, was being implemented to this end.
