Faced with a high risk of the British Parliament rejecting the UK's draft withdrawal agreement from the EU (see EUROPE 12145), British leader Theresa May announced on Monday 10 December that this vote, scheduled for Tuesday, would be postponed until further guarantees could be obtained, but did not specify a date for a new vote.
Confirming rumours, Ms May admitted that she would fail on the safety net to prevent the return of a physical border between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
