11/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 11 September, MEPs supported by a relative majority (489 votes in favour, 170 against and 32 abstentions) the inter-institutional agreement reached in July (see EUROPE 12065) to increase the structural reform support programme. They thus decided to raise its envelope from €142.8 million to €222.8 million, with the aim of better supporting the structural reforms of member states wanting to join the euro – currently seven (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden). The proposal to reject the proposal tabled by the EFDD was not retained (123 votes in favour, 538 against and 30 abstentions). (PH)
