21/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 August, the European Central Bank (ECB), in its capacity as supervisor of the largest banks of the Eurozone, handed down a fine of €4.3 million to the French banking group Crédit Agricole for having categorised equity instruments as optimum quality capital (CET1) without having obtained the prior authorisation of the competent prudential authority. The French bank may appeal against this fine to the Court of Justice of the EU. (MB)
