26/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia have taken another step towards connected cars. During the Digital Assembly on Tuesday 26 June in Sofia, they signed an agreement of intent to develop an experimental 5G network cross-border corridor between Thessaloniki, Sofia and Belgrade. The Serbian Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Tatjana Matić, stated that “It is time for the Balkans to act together and unite”. The Secretary of State also asserted that the southern corridor would almost be completed by the end of the year. This signing follows the commitment made by the member states in 2017 to develop large-scale connected and automated mobility tests. This comes on top of the projects concluded between: France, Germany and the Luxembourg; Norway, Finland and Sweden; the Netherlands and Belgium; and Spain and Portugal. (SPj)
