Anna Elżbieta Fotyga (ECR, Poland), the leader of a delegation of five MEPs who visited Bosnia-Herzegovina from 3 to 5 April, has called on the EU member states for more funding and to provide enough men for the common security and defence policy (CSDP) operation EUFOR Althea.
"EUFOR Althea makes a real difference for Bosnia-Herzegovina, particularly in the areas of de-mining and ammunition disposal and storage. EU member states should provide this crucial operation with the necessary financial and human resources to fulfil its important mandate”, Fotyga stated in a press release published at the end of her visit.
The mission comprises around 600 men with a budget of approximately €10 million per year.
Fotyga, Cristian Dan Preda (EPP, Romania), Tonino Picula (S&D, Croatia), Angel Dzhambazki (ECR, Bulgaria) and Bodil Valero (Greens/EFA, Sweden) also "called upon all Bosnian political actors to regain the momentum of reform and to overcome the constitutional deadlock ahead of elections this autumn", the press release stated.
