On Thursday 18 January, the Court of Justice of the EU ruled, in the case C-45/17, that French nationals working in a third country - outside the EU, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland - and affiliated to a social security regime in that state (in this case, China) were still liable for French social contributions - the generalised social contribution (CSG) and the social debt repayment contribution (CRDS).
