10/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 January High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini met with Vatican Undersecretary for Migration Fr Fabio Baggio and the Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union, Mgr Alain Lebeaupin. A press release from the European External Action Service says that "the partnership with countries of origin, transit and destination, the work to tackle the root causes of migration and refugee flows – from the fight against poverty to the political solution to ongoing conflicts – and the possibility of cooperation at local level on these files were also discussed with a view to identifying further areas for cooperation" between the EU and the Vatican.
