05/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 5 December, the European Central Bank (ECB) updated the list of important entities under its direct supervision, reducing their number to 119 compared to 125 at the beginning of 2017. Having completed its annual evaluation of the importance of Eurozone banks, the monetary institute identified the Frankfurt branch of Barclays Bank plc as a new important establishment, due to the increase of its size, and it will be directly supervised by the ECB from 1 January 2018. One German and one Austrian bank have, moreover, been removed from the list following a three-year observation period. This reduction also reflects various changes in the structures of two bank groups and the withdrawal of the licences of three banks.
