Forests and unique wild species under threat in all of Europe's Danube-Carpathian region

Environmental crimes are legion in the central and Eastern European region of Danube-Carpathia, endangering the last virgin forests and unique animal species in European biodiversity and UNESCO world heritage, explain the United Nations and WWF.

The warning was issued by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), the WWF and Eurac Research in a report published on Friday 24 November.
