On Wednesday 22 November, the European Commission fined the Japanese companies Tokai Rika, Takata, Autoliv, Toyoda Gosei and Marutaka a total of €34 million on the basis of a settlement, for their involvement in cartels concerning the supply of seatbelts, airbags and steering wheels to Japanese car manufacturers in the European Economic Area (EEA).
