03/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 3 November, the European Commission announced that High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will be in Washington on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 November to discuss EU-US bilateral relations and recent developments on foreign policy issues of common interest. In particular, she will have the difficult task of defending the Iranian nuclear agreement that US President Donald Trump refused to recertify on 13 October. The US Congress is soon due to give its opinion on this subject (see EUROPE 11883). Mogherini will meet US Vice-President Mike Pence, as well as a number of members of the US Senate and House of Representative, including Paul Ryan, speaker of the House of Representatives. She will also address the House of Representatives' Republican conference. Her visit will also be an opportunity to meet the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano.
