02/08/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 2 August, a spokesman for the European External Action Service (EEAS) deplored two terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, one against the Iraqi embassy in Kabul on Monday 31 July that killed two Afghans and the other against a mosque in Herat on Tuesday 1 August in which at least 29 people were killed. He expressed the EU’s condolences to the victims’ family and friends, commenting: ‘Only an end to the violence and an inclusive, peaceful resolution of the conflict can finally bring peace for the Afghan people, who for so many decades have suffered from insecurity. The European Union reaffirms its commitment to stand by the Afghan authorities in the fight against terrorism. We are united with the Afghan people in support of the efforts to fight this global threat.’ (EH)
