Mariya Gabriel still without a communications adviser

The composition of the Cabinet of the Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, is due to be announced in the coming days.

As we wrote in mid-July, Lora Borissova will hold the position of head of cabinet (see EUROPE 11831). We have since then had confirmation that Carl-Christian Buhr and Éric Peters, who were part of the transition team made available to Gabriel by DG Connect, will stay in the Commissioner's cabinet.  The former advised Commissioners Neelie Kroes and Phil Hogan before last year becoming director of the Computer Emergency Response Team of the EU institutions and agencies (CERT-EU) and the latter has worked in the Cabinet of former Trade Commissioners Peter Mandelson and Catherine Ashton, before holding the post of deputy head of unit responsible for the "digital single market" at DG Connect. Gabriel's former assistant at the European Parliament will follow her to the Commission as personal assistant.

The recruitment process will continue for several more days, as the Commissioner has yet to find a communications adviser, for instance.

The composition of the full team will be published on the new Commissioner's webpage: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/commissioners/2014-2019/gabriel_en .  (Original version in French by Sophie Petitjean)
