Member states' experts agree on draft budget for 2018

Experts from the EU member states reached agreement on Friday 7 July on the Council’s negotiating position for the draft EU budget for 2018 (see EUROPE 11823).

The total commitment appropriations is €158.9 billion and €144.4 billion in payment appropriations for 2018.  This is a €1.7 billion reduction on the proposal unveiled by the European Commission in terms of commitment appropriations and just under €1 billion in payment appropriations.
