28/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 June, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini encouraged the Colombian authorities and FARC to continue their work towards implementing the remaining provisions of the peace agreement, following a ceremony celebrating the end of the FARC's disarmament the previous day. In a press release Mogherini described this disarmament as a "crucial step forward", adding that it made the peace process "irreversible". "It consolidates the progress that has been achieved in the past few months, thanks to the firm commitment of both parties, to ensure that the provisions of the peace agreement are being effectively implemented", she said. "We will encourage and support all steps towards a sustainable and lasting peace, which ends violence, empowers communities, and brings security and prosperity to all Colombians", she added. (CG)
