27/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – Croatia has been partially linked up to the Schengen Information System (SIS) since 27 June, according to an announcement made by the European Commission on Tuesday. Croatia will now be able to exchange information with other member states through the SIS with regard to individuals pursued for terrorism or other serious crimes, as well as missing persons and certain objects such as stolen vehicles, firearms and ID documents. Croatia’s inclusion into the SIS will also help to reduce waiting time at terrestrial borders between Croatia and Slovenia: the two member states both have access to the SIS and will no longer need to verify databases on both sides of the border. The Commission proposed the gradual integration of Croatia into the SIS on 18 January 2017. (SP)
