EU calls on Moscow to respect freedoms of expression, association and assembly

On Monday 12 June, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) called on the Russian authorities to respect the freedoms of expression, association and assembly, following the detention of over 200 people who had come, at the invitation of political opponent Alexei Navalny, to demonstrate against corruption nationwide, especially in Moscow and St Petersburg.
