30/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The ministers are reported to have unanimously supported plans to create a European Innovation Council, during an informal discussion held over lunch on the sidelines of the 'Competitiveness' Council of Tuesday 30 May. This will not be a new formation within the Council, but the creation of a new instrument, that will take as its model the European Research Council (ECR), a body of the European Union responsible for coordinating research efforts between the member states of the EU, and the main objective of which would be to encourage innovation to create new markets by leaving entrepreneurs greater liberty to request European funds. EUROPE will return shortly with more details on the content of the plans. (PH)
