11/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has described as “unacceptable” the armed attack on the evening of Monday 8 May against a convoy of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the south-east of the country, leaving four blue helmets dead and ten injured, all Cambodian or Moroccan nationals. “The deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in the east of the country is extremely worrying and requires an increased and coordinated effort by all partners standing alongside the Central African government”, the spokesperson of the European External Action Service said in a press release on Wednesday 10 May (our translation). The EU expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, MINUSCA and the Moroccan and Cambodian governments and wishes the injured a speedy recovery. It reiterates its full support for the constant efforts of MINUSCA and President Touadéra. (AN)
