Hungary under fire over transposition of directives of third liberalisation package

On Thursday 27 April, the Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Hungary, calling on it to fully comply with the legislative package for the liberalisation of the electricity and gas markets.

The Commission is calling on Hungary to ensure that Directive 2009/72/EC on electricity and Directive 2009/73/EC on gas are correctly implemented and applied.

A letter of formal notice was sent to Hungary in February 2015 and then, as Budapest had still not brought its national laws into line with EU...
