New proposals for Council to define concept of 'effective solidarity' in asylum field

On Wednesday 26 April during breakfast, the Permanent Representatives to the EU (Coreper) will discuss the new ideas of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU for reaching a compromise on the reform of the so-called “Dublin” regulation on processing requests for asylum between member states.

The Maltese Presidency wants to move forward on the concept of “effective solidarity”. It will present the member states with the proposal of €60,000 for every additional asylum seeker...
