18/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and Costa Rica's Ministry of External Trade will hold an event in San Jose on 4 and 5 May on responsible value chains under the EU-Central America (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and El Salvador) association agreement that entered into force at the end of 2013. Policymakers, international organisations, business and civil society will be able to share their expertise on the main challenges and opportunities that that these complex global value chains represent as they push more and more consumers, businesses and brands to look for assurances about the environmental and social conditions linked to the manufacturing of products. The event will include presentations on international guidelines and best practices for responsible business conduct, as well as a workshop led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to develop capacities for more sustainable value chains.
