On Saturday 8 April, while awaiting proclamation of the final results of the elections in Gambia, EU observers provisionally welcomed the good conduct of the general elections on 6 April, for which the EU sent a team of election observers (EOM-EU) (see EUROPE 11750).
Head of EOM-EU, Czech S&D MEP Miroslav Poche said the people of Gambia had elected their representatives to the National Assembly in the first elections after the peaceful change of the country’s president in January.
