04/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 April, the European Commission explained that the EU has expressed its solidarity with the Colombian authorities and victims of the landslides that have devastated the south west of the country, by earmarking €150,000 in emergency humanitarian relief to help the people affected by the disaster. This is an initial aid package, which could be added to if needs be. The Commission's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) is closely monitoring the situation. On Saturday, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, expressed their solidarity with the Colombian people, as well as their condolences to the bereaved families and stated, “Our thoughts are with all those affected, the rescue workers on the scene working in difficult conditions, and the authorities of the country”.
