On Monday 3 April, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted its position on draft amending budget no. 1 to the 2017 budget, earmarking €70 million of the EU Solidarity Fund following natural disasters in 2015 and 2016 (see EUROPE 11713).
This envelope of the Solidarity Fund corresponds to €60 million following flooding in the United Kingdom and €7.3 million and €4 million for Cyprus and Portugal respectively, following periods of drought in both countries last year.
