Commission backs renewal of EU-Guinea Bissau fisheries agreement

The European Commission is expected very shortly to adopt a proposal seeking a mandate from the Council of the EU to open negotiations on behalf of the European Union for the renewal of the protocol to the fisheries partnership agreement with the Republic of Guinea Bissau (see EUROPE 11674).

The current protocol is due to expire at the end of 2017. It authorises EU vessels, mainly from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and France, to fish in the waters of Guinea Bissau. The multi-species...
