Russia exported a record volume of gas to Europe and Turkey in 2016 – 179.3 billion cubic metres, up 12.5% on 2015 (158.6 billion cubic metres) and more than the previous record set in 2013 (161.5 billion cubic metres) – Russian gas company Gazprom announced on Monday 9 January, after setting a new daily export record the previous day.
