09/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 9 November, the European Commission appointed Manfred Kraff as Internal Auditor and Director General of its Internal Audit Service. The date of effect will be determined later. Kraff is a German national and joined the European Commission in 1983. In 1988, he joined the European Court of Auditors. In 2012, he returned to the Commission to take up the positions of Deputy Director-General in the Budget department and, simultaneously, the Commission's Accounting Officer. In his current role, Kraff has been managing relations between the Commission and the European Court of Auditors, and is in charge of supervising the annual discharge procedure of the EU budget. The Internal Audit Service was set up in 2001 and currently employs around 150 people. (LC)
