Cities present study on radicalisation

02/11/2016 (Agence Europe)Eurocities presented a report on radicalisation on Wednesday 26 October in which four major conclusions are drawn.  Firstly, tackling radicalisation goes beyond security concerns and also requires improvements in social inclusion, integration and citizen participation.  Secondly, Eurocities says that the focus should not be on one single target group – Muslims – but rather that developing stable networks and good relations with different communities is crucial.  Thirdly, the report says that it is important to address all forms of extremism and radicalisation, not just radical Islam.  And lastly, Eurocities calls for improved coordination between local, national and European governance levels in order to avoid local action being lost in the mix.  (PH)
