26/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called on the Dutch government and parliament, on Wednesday 26 October, to find a solution on ratification of the association agreement with Ukraine, which has been deadlocked since a Dutch consultative referendum rejected ratification (see EUROPE 11652). “I would like to issue a call to Dutch political leaders. I call on them to fully consider the scale of the problem”, Juncker said in a plenary session debate in the European Parliament. “It would be good if a domestic agreement can be found on this issue in the Netherlands”, he added. “Whatever the outcome of the debate in the Netherlands is going to be, it is clear that we need to find a way ahead that is also agreeable to the other 27 member states and to Ukraine”, said European Council President Donald Tusk.
