05/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU is soon expected to adopt the decision on the ratification, on behalf of the EU, of the stepping stone agreement between the EU and Ghana, which will lead to an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) compatible with WTO rules. On Tuesday 4 October, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States in the European Union (COREPER) recommended the adoption, on behalf of the EU, of the decision on this subject. This will take place, without debate, during the next Council session. The agreement was initialled by both parties in December 2007. Signed on 28 July 2016, it has been applied on a provisional basis, whilst awaiting its entry into force. (AN)
