03/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Sunday 2 October, the EU and Algeria signed a memorandum of understanding in Algiers to help "improve the the business environment in Algeria by boosting action and reflection on business climate related affairs". According to an official news release, the EU is proposing to support activities that include study projects and economic analysis, as well as logistical support and public events. Algeria's official news agency APS reports that during a summer school organised in Algiers, a number of economists highlighted on Saturday, "the need to improve the attractiveness of the business climate in Algeria and outlaw bureaucratic practices, whilst promoting alternative drivers for economic growth". According to APS, these experts "highlighted the importance of getting out of the oil business and building an economy based on enterprise and agricultural development". (FB)
