Start of trade liberalisation with the EU

22/08/2016 (Agence Europe)On 4 August, the gradual liberalisation of trade between the European Union and Cameroon began with the signature by the country’s president, Paul Biya, of a decree laying down rules of origin and administrative cooperation methods for goods imported from the European Union.  Decree 2016/367 of 3 August foresees the gradual liberalisation of more than 1,750 tariff lines between now and 2020.  It will allow application of the economic partnership agreement (EPA) between the EU and Cameroon under the stepping stone economic partnership agreement between the EU and Central Africa. (AN)
