MEPs warn reintroduction of death penalty would mean end of accession negotiations

Brussels, 19/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in an extraordinary session, MEPs in the European Parliament's foreign affairs committee warned that the reintroduction of the death penalty in Turkey, as announced by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the attempted coup (EUROPE 11596), would mean the indefinite interruption of the EU's accession negotiations with Turkey.
